Coping with Stressful Events

PALNYC is happy to support the work of researchers focused on supporting the social and emotional needs of kids. Given all that families are dealing with during COVID, we wanted to share the following research study for those who are interested in participating:

The “Child Coping” Study is interested in learning more about how New York City children cope with stressful events, with a focus on children ages 6-11 years (elementary school age). We are looking for parents/guardians of children in this age range to enroll in our study. Your participation will help us learn more about the experiences and coping skills of NYC children, as well as how parents may help children cope with stress. The research will cover topics like violence that your child may have experienced or heard about, as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on your family. We are interested in learning about the ways that NYC children cope with stressful events that are most helpful in their well-being.

Participating families can complete our questionnaire online or over the phone with a member of our research staff. Participation is voluntary and the survey may take 15-30 minutes. If you volunteer to be in this study, you may withdraw at any time without consequences of any kind.

The information you provide will be kept confidential and private. In appreciation for your participation, you may enter into a lottery to receive a $50 gift card.

If you would like to be involved in this study, please complete our eligibility survey at the following link: http://tiny.cc/ChildCoping
