Sadly, PALNYC has lost three people who were not only dear to us, but who made us better as an organization: Executive Director of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and former PALNYC Advisory Board Member Harold Levy, Childrens Aid Society‘s Juan Carlos Gonzalez and School Search Solutions Jeryss Haynes.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends. And we encourage all of our readers to support their amazing organizations and to live and lead by example to provide all children with opportunities.
Harold Levy was an early supporter of PALNYC and the organization’s first advisory board member. He encouraged us to follow our instincts, focusing on the kids and parents of NYC who needed support to find the best programs and educational opportunities regardless of financial means.
Juan Carlos Gonzalez, a supporter and volunteer of PALNYC, led by example. His energy and passion for supporting the health of children was paramount in his work at the Children’s Aid Society. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and colleagues.
Jeryss Haynes, the Operations Manager at School Choice International, was instrumental in supporting the $25,000 Michael Perelstein Memorial Scholarship that PALNYC supported during its five year program in New York City. Jeryss was the glue that kept us all on track and was a valued team member as we juried NYC’s talented and gifted kindergarten through high school kids providing scholarships that allowed them to Discover Their Passion.
They will all be dearly missed.
